George Harvey enjoys helping clients understand their finances and developing tailored solutions to their unique issues. He formed Divorce Financial Services to provide these services to clients undergoing what can be a very challenging experience. He earned his MBA with a concentration in finance and draws upon it when talking with clients about their goals and concerns. He is currently completing the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation to offer broader financial advising options to his clients.
George completed his Certified Divorce Financial Analyst designation in February 2016. The CDFA focuses on providing guidance and advice to clients considering divorce, or currently going through the divorce process, with regards to their financial issues. Whether children, a business, or complicated investments and assets are involved, George believes that every client deserves to be treated with integrity and fairness. By understanding their financial situation, and educating clients on their options to reach their goals, George offers clarity and direction to the financial aspect of the divorce.
George also participates in the “Collaborative” divorce process, a litigation-free approach to divorce which utilizes a professional services team – including attorneys, family counselors, mental health professionals, and Divorce Coaches. Partnering with local providers, he provides a neutral, non-biased financial analysis of his client’s current position, and offers analyses of multiple scenarios to determine the best plan for the client’s finances going forward.
Prior to establishing Divorce Financial Services, George worked in the banking industry for over 10 years. Following his graduation from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania, he began his banking career in Nashville, Tennessee with SunTrust Bank. Later, he worked with First Citizens Bank helping affluent clients and small business owners with their financial services needs. A Raleigh native, he returned to the area to be closer to family and to marry his wife.
